GDI Engines

GDI engines are gasoline, combustion engines. These engines also go by petrol direct injection, direct petrol injection, spark-ignited direct injection (SIDI) and fuel-stratified injection (FSI), is a variant of fuel injection employed in modern two-stroke and four-stroke gasoline engines.

Without proper maintenance, Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine can have performance loss, efficiency drops and increased emissions in as early as 3,000 miles/5,000 km. Service steps for the BG GDI Fuel/Air Induction Service

1.       Pour BG 44k ®, PN 208, into the gas tank

2.       Pour two cans of BG GDI Intake Valve Cleaner, PN 260, into the BG VIA ®

3.       Spray the solution into the intake using the BG Air Intake System Cleaning Tool, PN 9209

4.       Fill BG VIA ® with 1 can of BG Fuel Injection & Combustion Chamber Cleaner, PN 201

5.       Connect the BG VIA ® to the fuel rail

 

What Are The Drawbacks to GDI Engines?
 

Cost. GDI engines cost more than multi-point injection systems. Because the injectors are inserted directly into the combustion chamber, injectors must be more rugged than port injectors in order to withstand the heat and pressure of hundreds (or even thousands) of tiny explosions per minute.
